And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.'

Matthew 6 : 13

Dog Gone It!

The owner of an obedience school explained one of the tests that will determine the difference between a dog worth thousands of dollars and just another well-trained pet. After weeks of intensive training, the hungry dog is brought into a room. The trainer enters, lays a thick, juicy, T-bone steak near the dog, and gives the command to sit and stay. The temptation is so great that very few dogs pass this final test of obedience. The trainer added that he has noticed through the years that those dogs that pass the test want the meat just as badly as any dog - even saliva drops through a difficult situation. But the dog keeps his eyes on the trainer, not the meat. This reminds the dog of the command he's been given, not the temptation.

Hebrews 12 : 2-3 says: Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

When you are at the point of temptation and think you have every right to give in, if you keep your eyes on your Master you too can find strength to be obedient. You have to focus on the command, not the temptation. Of course, you can't physically look at God, but there are practical ways to forcus on Christ. One way would be to write down a verse to encourage you - like today's and put it in your pocket. When a struggle comes, take the verse out and read it. Another way would be to tell a trusted Christian friend what your struggle is and then talk to him/her when you are tempted. Pray to God each day when you are tempted.

What temptations are you struggling with today? The next time you are tempted, what can you do to keep your eyes on Jesus and off the temptation?

Ivan: Let us do have self-control and be a well trained pet...Boys,play less dota...Girls, less facebook..God bless =)

Memory Verse

The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead
on the third day, and repentance
and forgiveness of his sins will be
preached in his name to all nations,
beginning at Jerusalem.

Luke 24 : 46 - 47

The War Was Won

In the early 1950s near the end of the Korean War, a mechanic and his wife in Palestine, Texas, were notified that their son had been killed in action. They knew it would be a matter of weeks, or even months, before his body was sent home, so they had a memorial service a few days later. Relatives and friends came from all over to pay their respects to the young soldier.

Sereval weeks later as the war was ending, a mistake was discovered. The report of the son's death was an error. A letter detailing the mistake was sent to Palestine to inform the couple that their son had not died but was alive and well and heading home.

The young soldier was unaware that a mistake had occured, and he arrived in his hometown before the letter could reach his parents. He stepped off the bus mid-afternoon and knowing his dad would be working in his garage, went straight for his shop. Seeing his father underneath a car, he said, "Dad, I'm home." The mechanic slowly wheeled out from under the car, staring at the shadow in the doorway. He slowly rose to his feet and without a word, began to touch his son's face. The father began to cry tears of joy. Overcome with gratitude and amazement, he ran from his shop and out into the town screaming, "He's alive! He's alive!"

Read one of the coolest account of Jesus in Luke 24 : 36 - 48. While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them. "Peace be with you". They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, "why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have". When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, " Do yo have anything here to eat?" They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it in their presence. He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms". Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, " This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of his sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.

God helps them realize it's Jesus, they are amazed, as Father in today's story was.

You may never have anything like this happen to you, but wait...If you are a Christian, it has happened to you. the Bible says we are dead in our sin and Christ's power resurrects us in His life to live in freedom through Him. You are a dead person raised to walk in new life. That's exactly what baptism represents. Thank God today for His power to give you new life in Christ.

Memory Verse

Do not let this Book of the Law depart
from your mouth; meditate on it day and night,
so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.

Joshua 1 : 8

Why Should I Have A Quiet Time?

Probably the most important aspect of your day involves discovering what God has in store for you that day.

Joshua 1 : 8 says do not let this Book of the law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you wil be prosperous and successful.

Joshua 1 : 8 teaches that the key to being successful involves spending consistent daily time with God and being willing to apply what He teaches you. This "success" is not fame and fortune. It is an inner peace and contentment that comes from fulfilling God's purpose for your life.

All great men and women of God throughout Scripture and history spent consistent, quality time with Him. Your spiritual growth will be directly proportionate to your obedience to God as you spend time developing a relationship with Him.

1 Timothy 4 : 7 says have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.

1 Timothy 4 : 7 teaches us that you chose to become godly and that it is a result of daily spiritual discipline. No one becomes godly by accident. It is your choice.

Of course, any discipline requires time. Marriage enrichment seminars teach that the way you spell the word, "love," is T-I-M-E. Time is the greatest evidence of our love. Just as it proves love to a marriage partner, it is the test of your love for God.

You will gradually learn that your devotional life or lack of it affects everything else you do - home life, school, work, relationship, attitudes, reactions, etc. It enables you to see all of your daily situations, good and bad, from God's perspective. You might say it wakes up your spiritual consciousness.

Memory Verse

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

Proverbs 1 : 7

The Master's Masterpiece

Anyone is free to sit at a piano, bang on the keys, and make some musical noise. Many can even play a simple melody like "Chopsticks." The ability to sit at a piano and play a Bach or Beethoven composition, however, comes only through intense discipline and countless hours of practicing. Obedience is required to practice and to develop freedom into usefulness.

The Christian life is much like a musician preparing a masterpiece. Time spent in prayer, reading Scripture, and seeking the Lord will allow you to be ready when He calls you to take on an assignment for Him like witnessing to a friend, encouraging someone who has stumbled in his or her faith, or making a decision that could alter your own future.

The introductory words to the book of Proverbs are a call to take the disciplines of the faith seriously in order to know the joy of a life filled with God's presence.

Proverbs 1 : 1 to 7 - The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight; for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair; for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young - let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance - for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

You have the privilege of reading your Bible and praying, so don't just "bang on the keys." Your discipline will help you develop a masterpiece for Christ.
