Heroes Camp 09

Another National Baptist Youth Camp for this year 2009 in Peace Haven, Genting Highland. Well, It was a great camp although the game and worship is just average but I rate this Camp as 4 out of 5 because the message is wonderful. It's a camp I get to mixed around with a lot of people and a camp which have the strongest message been brought ever. It might be my last youth camp because my age is starting to get older and I'm no longer a youth anymore - is a sad thing. But I hope that my youth spirit will never fades so that I am able to serve God with great passion and zealousness. God had never failed to use camps to draw me back to His presence and through this camp I am equip intensely with the Holy Spirit. Is my great pleasure to meet Pastor Victor Wong the camp speaker, SIB church youth pastor who really understands the youth's life. The message he brought out is clearly precise, understandable, interesting to youth's life and funny. I guess there's not even one who does not pay attention when he talks.

Although there's many unexpected mishap occur as Satan is working behind this camp - worship discruption, uncooperative youth, items stolen, quarrels and mismanagement but somehow the message is effective enough for us to defend ourselves against Satan's plans. Our faith before God had never be distracted, we learned to handle our dissapointment, our failures and to forgive. One of the sermom mentioned Failures is not final, is just a beginning, is just an experiment. No matter what's the past is, our failures is, we learned our mistake and look forward to our lifes. Its the matter of how much we trust God to handle our failures?

About the world game, is something realistic in what's happening in our world today. And I'm been voted as group leader again - the president of Iran *sigh*. Iran the 2nd world countries which also can said under devopling countries. Iran is weak in military, high death rate, muslim country and oil manufacture country. Indeed we all felt unfair because we picked a undesired country which we belong to and some under a great wealth countries like USA. Well, after all I been glad I'm Iranian because no body attacks us because we are low profile country. Muahahahaha. As time goes by, disasters, crisis and wars occurs in different country. Strong countries will try to strengthen their arm forces and militaries just to compete for great power and authority to rule the world and I just sitting down there watching nuclears bomb here and there while the poor countries are begging for money and help but no one meet their needs. Some countries wants to declare peace but some wants war because of authority. Even a game, people are greedy and desire more power or wealth. What more we can said about our world? Wars and disaster will soon happen to our world and is time for us to stand up as Heroes of Christ!

Through this game, I learned two important points. First, we may felt life is unfair at the beginning but at the end we will see God makes everyone's life fair. Second, the wealth of the earth is enough to satisfy all the people but it could not satisfy a person's greed. I have one thought that is what if everyone give out their wealth and distribute equally to all the people on earth, I believe one people have enough money to live and even drive Honda Civic. Interesting?

The second day's message touches me the most and had make clear of 'Who is My Hero?'. When we think of a hero, is mostly with a cool or handsome look, with supernatural power, is undying, is brave and etc - which made us left out our greatest Hero Jesus in our lifes. He who humbly died for our sins and the Healer of all sickness. Surely there's no hero like Him who sacrifice his life for us. My tears felt and my head bowed, I make a commitment with God that 'You are my Hero and I want to stand up as hero in where I am living. There are many people searching and crying out for a hero so let this hero be me as a representative and behalf of Jesus Christ my Hero. Amen'.

I believe there's many more youth had been touched in this camp and many had made a commitment with God. I saw the blind had finally see the greatness of God, those who can't let go their failures had put their trust in God and look forward to their life. I want to end with my blog a statement by Albert Einstein. 'It is not dangerous for those who brought harm to the world but is more dangerous for those who seated down and do nothing'. Are you the one who is realaxing and do nothing for the people in need? I write this blog is just to challenge you today.

IS TIME TO STAND UP AS A HERO TODAY!

Memory Verse

A truthful witness gives honest testimony,
but a false witness tells lies.

Proverbs 12 : 17

No Truth Decay

A mom shares this story: "My 4-year-old son Zachary came screaming out of the bathroom to tell me he'd dropped his toothbrush in the toilet. So I fished it out and threw it in the garbage. Zachary stood there thinking for a moment, then ran to my bathroom and came out with m toothbrush. He held it up and said with a charming, little smile, 'We better throw this one out too then, 'cause it fell in the toilet a few days ago.'"

Acts 5 : 1 - 10. Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. With his wife's full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles' feet. Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kepy for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God". When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened.

Today's story is a great example of a child's innocence and honesty. Today's Bible verses are a scary account of dishonesty and deceit. You have likely heard the oath that people say in a court of law: "I swear to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God." Have you ever been tempted to tell a part of the truth, so you can avoid trouble or a problem? That's what that oath says, "the whole truth."

God has told us His "whole truth' in His Word. In a world of increasing dishonesty, commit to being known as an honest person, full of integrity, like the little boy in the story telling the "whole truth."

Memory Verse

He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver;
he will purify the Levites and refine them
like gold and silver.

Malachi 3 : 3

Mirror Image

Many years ago some ladies in a Bible study came upon a puzzling phrase in the book of Malachi: "He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver." One woman offered a visit a silversmith and report to the others what he said on the subject.

She didn't tell the man why she was interested, but asked to know the process of refining silver, which he described in detail to her."But sir," she said when he finished, "do you sit while the work of refining is going on?""Oh yes, ma'am," replied the silversmith, "I must sit with my eyes fixed on the furnace, for if the time necessary for refining exceeds the slightest degree, the silver will be injured." Satisfied, the lady started to leave the shop but the silversmith said, "Oh, one more thing, ma'am. I know that the process of purifying is complete when I see my own image reflecting in the silver."

But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner's fire or a launderer's soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness. Malachi 3 : 2 -3.

Have you ever had someone say, "You look more and more like your mom as you get older," or "You sure look just like your dad"? As you grow and mature in your walk with Christ, it is exciting when people begin to tell you that you're "looking like Jesus." He is working, through the tough times and the good times of your life, to see His reflection in you. Pray that His image would become more and more clear, and seen, in you.

Memory Verse

What, then, shall we say in response? to this?
If God is for us, who can be against us.

Romans 8:31

Spiritual Smack - Down

A college professor was an outspoken atheist - a person who believe there's no God. He shocked several of his students in class when he flatly stated that there is no God and he was going to prove it. Looking up, he shouted, "God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you 15 minutes!"

The lecture room fell silent. You could have heard a pin drop. Ten minutes went by. Again he taunted God, saying, "Here I am, God. I'm still waiting!" His countdown got down to the last couple of minutes when a Marine, just released from the active duty and newly registered in the class, walked up to the professor, hit him full force in the face, and sent him back from his platform. The professor was out cold! At first the students were shocked and confused.

The young Marine sat back down on the front row. The class fell silent...waiting. Eventually, the professor came to, shaken. He looked at the young Marine.

When he regained his senses and could speaked he yelled, "What's the matter with you? Why did you do that?"

"God was busy. He sent me," the Marine answered.

In the morning, there was no small commotion among the soldiers as to what had become of Peter. After Herod had a thorough search made for him and did not find him, he cross-examined the guards and ordered that they be executed. Then Herod went from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there a while. He had been quarreling with the people of Tyre and Sidon; they now joined together and sought an audience with him. Having secured the support of Blastus, a trusted personal servant of the king, they asked for peace, because they depended on the king's country for their food supply. On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. They shouted, " This is the voice of a god, not of a man". Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died. But the word of God continued to increase and spread. Acts 12 : 18-24.

Today's story is comical, but the point is very serious. Throughout history, God has used many interesting things to continue His work. Sometimes he directly intervenes and sometimes he uses people or, even worms. The bottom line is that He will get His work accomplished. The beautiful thing is He wants to use His children to do His work.

How is He using you right now? Be sure you are listening to Him and obeying what He tells you. Blessing comes from being faithful and obedient to Him. You can be a Hero today =)

In Good Company

Albert Einstein was one of the greatest scientist/mathematicians of all time, best known for discovering the Theory of Relativity. However, he was four years old before he could speak and seven before he could read. Sir Issac Newton, another great scientist/mathematician, who discovered the Law of Gravity, did poorly in grade school. A newspaper editor once fired Walt Disney because "he had no good ideas." Wernher von Braun, one of the greatest rocket scientists of all time, failed ninth-grade algebra.

We're all so different, with our own talents and interests. God created us all with unique abilities and gifts. As Christians, we must be willing to find the good in everyone. We must pray and help ourselves, as well as others, to discover all that God placed in us, to be all He intend for us to be.

Proverbs 2 : 1 - 10 said "My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. Then you will understand what is right and just and fair every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

The next time you're feeling insecure, a little stupid, embarrassed, or the you're not important, read this passage again. It's full of promises of what God can do in, for, and through you.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.'

Matthew 6 : 13

Dog Gone It!

The owner of an obedience school explained one of the tests that will determine the difference between a dog worth thousands of dollars and just another well-trained pet. After weeks of intensive training, the hungry dog is brought into a room. The trainer enters, lays a thick, juicy, T-bone steak near the dog, and gives the command to sit and stay. The temptation is so great that very few dogs pass this final test of obedience. The trainer added that he has noticed through the years that those dogs that pass the test want the meat just as badly as any dog - even saliva drops through a difficult situation. But the dog keeps his eyes on the trainer, not the meat. This reminds the dog of the command he's been given, not the temptation.

Hebrews 12 : 2-3 says: Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

When you are at the point of temptation and think you have every right to give in, if you keep your eyes on your Master you too can find strength to be obedient. You have to focus on the command, not the temptation. Of course, you can't physically look at God, but there are practical ways to forcus on Christ. One way would be to write down a verse to encourage you - like today's and put it in your pocket. When a struggle comes, take the verse out and read it. Another way would be to tell a trusted Christian friend what your struggle is and then talk to him/her when you are tempted. Pray to God each day when you are tempted.

What temptations are you struggling with today? The next time you are tempted, what can you do to keep your eyes on Jesus and off the temptation?

Ivan: Let us do have self-control and be a well trained pet...Boys,play less dota...Girls, less facebook..God bless =)

Memory Verse

The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead
on the third day, and repentance
and forgiveness of his sins will be
preached in his name to all nations,
beginning at Jerusalem.

Luke 24 : 46 - 47

The War Was Won

In the early 1950s near the end of the Korean War, a mechanic and his wife in Palestine, Texas, were notified that their son had been killed in action. They knew it would be a matter of weeks, or even months, before his body was sent home, so they had a memorial service a few days later. Relatives and friends came from all over to pay their respects to the young soldier.

Sereval weeks later as the war was ending, a mistake was discovered. The report of the son's death was an error. A letter detailing the mistake was sent to Palestine to inform the couple that their son had not died but was alive and well and heading home.

The young soldier was unaware that a mistake had occured, and he arrived in his hometown before the letter could reach his parents. He stepped off the bus mid-afternoon and knowing his dad would be working in his garage, went straight for his shop. Seeing his father underneath a car, he said, "Dad, I'm home." The mechanic slowly wheeled out from under the car, staring at the shadow in the doorway. He slowly rose to his feet and without a word, began to touch his son's face. The father began to cry tears of joy. Overcome with gratitude and amazement, he ran from his shop and out into the town screaming, "He's alive! He's alive!"

Read one of the coolest account of Jesus in Luke 24 : 36 - 48. While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them. "Peace be with you". They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, "why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have". When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, " Do yo have anything here to eat?" They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it in their presence. He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms". Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, " This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of his sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.

God helps them realize it's Jesus, they are amazed, as Father in today's story was.

You may never have anything like this happen to you, but wait...If you are a Christian, it has happened to you. the Bible says we are dead in our sin and Christ's power resurrects us in His life to live in freedom through Him. You are a dead person raised to walk in new life. That's exactly what baptism represents. Thank God today for His power to give you new life in Christ.

Memory Verse

Do not let this Book of the Law depart
from your mouth; meditate on it day and night,
so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.

Joshua 1 : 8

Why Should I Have A Quiet Time?

Probably the most important aspect of your day involves discovering what God has in store for you that day.

Joshua 1 : 8 says do not let this Book of the law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you wil be prosperous and successful.

Joshua 1 : 8 teaches that the key to being successful involves spending consistent daily time with God and being willing to apply what He teaches you. This "success" is not fame and fortune. It is an inner peace and contentment that comes from fulfilling God's purpose for your life.

All great men and women of God throughout Scripture and history spent consistent, quality time with Him. Your spiritual growth will be directly proportionate to your obedience to God as you spend time developing a relationship with Him.

1 Timothy 4 : 7 says have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.

1 Timothy 4 : 7 teaches us that you chose to become godly and that it is a result of daily spiritual discipline. No one becomes godly by accident. It is your choice.

Of course, any discipline requires time. Marriage enrichment seminars teach that the way you spell the word, "love," is T-I-M-E. Time is the greatest evidence of our love. Just as it proves love to a marriage partner, it is the test of your love for God.

You will gradually learn that your devotional life or lack of it affects everything else you do - home life, school, work, relationship, attitudes, reactions, etc. It enables you to see all of your daily situations, good and bad, from God's perspective. You might say it wakes up your spiritual consciousness.

Memory Verse

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

Proverbs 1 : 7

The Master's Masterpiece

Anyone is free to sit at a piano, bang on the keys, and make some musical noise. Many can even play a simple melody like "Chopsticks." The ability to sit at a piano and play a Bach or Beethoven composition, however, comes only through intense discipline and countless hours of practicing. Obedience is required to practice and to develop freedom into usefulness.

The Christian life is much like a musician preparing a masterpiece. Time spent in prayer, reading Scripture, and seeking the Lord will allow you to be ready when He calls you to take on an assignment for Him like witnessing to a friend, encouraging someone who has stumbled in his or her faith, or making a decision that could alter your own future.

The introductory words to the book of Proverbs are a call to take the disciplines of the faith seriously in order to know the joy of a life filled with God's presence.

Proverbs 1 : 1 to 7 - The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight; for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair; for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young - let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance - for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

You have the privilege of reading your Bible and praying, so don't just "bang on the keys." Your discipline will help you develop a masterpiece for Christ.

Memory Verse

Likewise the tongue is a small part
of the body, but it makes great boasts.
Consider what a great forest is set on fire
by a small spark.

James 3 : 5

Hold That Thought

A man recalling his eighth grade year said, "I hated my math teacher. He was an older gentleman who couldn't control the class, and in my opinion, couldn't teach math. One afternoon, I was visiting our next door neighbor, a family that had lived next to us years. There was a stranger in the house. My parents had taught me to be polite to strangers, but they didn't tell me to keep my mouth shut until I knew all the facts. My neighbor began asking me questions about school, and this led to questions about the math teacher. After giving my 10 reasons why this man should no longer be teaching, my neighbor informed me that the lady who was visiting was the teacher's sister. Ouch. Pain.. I spent the rest of the semester living in fear that my opinions had been passed on to Mr. Quinn. Every time I saw him I remembered how critical I had been."

When we put bits into the mouths of the horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set by on fire by hell. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sead are being tamed and have been tamed by man, but no man can tame the tongue. it is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. James 3 : 3 -8.

Most of us can relate to this man's story. When was the last time you got caught like that after "speaking your mind"?

The Holy Spirit is the only successful trainer in the battle to tame the tongue. Whether you struggle with gossip, criticism, negative talk, cursing, or cutting down others down, God can help you one day at a time, one issue at a time. Not only can He help you stop hurting with your tongue, He can help you learn to encourage and affirm others. Pray today about your own words and habits.

Memory Verse

Whoever claims to live in Him
must walk as Jesus did.

1 John 2 : 6

Claim or Blame

When it was time to name their first-born son, the young parents argued over whose father should name him after. Finally they took the arguement to their leader. The leader asked the young dad, "What was your father's name?""Abijah," the father responded. He turned to the mother and said, " What was your father's name?""My father was also named Abijah." the woman replied. The leader, confused, threw his hands into the air and said, "Then what's the problem?!""The problem." answered the mother, "is that my father was a scholar, while his father was a horse thief. How can I allow my son to be named after such a man?" The leader sat silently, trying to come up with a solution to satisfy everyone, then said, "I have a suggestion. Call the boy Abijah and in time you will see whether he becomes a scholar or a horse thief, then you will know for whom was he named."

We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, "I know him", but does not do what he commands is a liar and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did. 1 John 2 : 3-6

The truth is someone can become a thief after being raised by scholars and a scholar can come out of a family of thieves! Your name will not make your character, but your character will make your name.

When you bcome a Christian, you take on Christ's name. John says that people will know Christian bear His name by how they act. Our actions demonstrates as well as define our character.

Regardless of your family's background or character, you can make your own name through your relationship with Christ. When He changes your life, He also affects your future. Thank Him today that you can walk as He walks and bear His name forever!
