A college professor was an outspoken atheist - a person who believe there's no God. He shocked several of his students in class when he flatly stated that there is no God and he was going to prove it. Looking up, he shouted, "God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you 15 minutes!"
The lecture room fell silent. You could have heard a pin drop. Ten minutes went by. Again he taunted God, saying, "Here I am, God. I'm still waiting!" His countdown got down to the last couple of minutes when a Marine, just released from the active duty and newly registered in the class, walked up to the professor, hit him full force in the face, and sent him back from his platform. The professor was out cold! At first the students were shocked and confused.
The young Marine sat back down on the front row. The class fell silent...waiting. Eventually, the professor came to, shaken. He looked at the young Marine.
When he regained his senses and could speaked he yelled, "What's the matter with you? Why did you do that?"
"God was busy. He sent me," the Marine answered.
In the morning, there was no small commotion among the soldiers as to what had become of Peter. After Herod had a thorough search made for him and did not find him, he cross-examined the guards and ordered that they be executed. Then Herod went from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there a while. He had been quarreling with the people of Tyre and Sidon; they now joined together and sought an audience with him. Having secured the support of Blastus, a trusted personal servant of the king, they asked for peace, because they depended on the king's country for their food supply. On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. They shouted, " This is the voice of a god, not of a man". Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died. But the word of God continued to increase and spread. Acts 12 : 18-24.
Today's story is comical, but the point is very serious. Throughout history, God has used many interesting things to continue His work. Sometimes he directly intervenes and sometimes he uses people or, even worms. The bottom line is that He will get His work accomplished. The beautiful thing is He wants to use His children to do His work.
How is He using you right now? Be sure you are listening to Him and obeying what He tells you. Blessing comes from being faithful and obedient to Him. You can be a Hero today =)
