Mirror Image

Many years ago some ladies in a Bible study came upon a puzzling phrase in the book of Malachi: "He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver." One woman offered a visit a silversmith and report to the others what he said on the subject.

She didn't tell the man why she was interested, but asked to know the process of refining silver, which he described in detail to her."But sir," she said when he finished, "do you sit while the work of refining is going on?""Oh yes, ma'am," replied the silversmith, "I must sit with my eyes fixed on the furnace, for if the time necessary for refining exceeds the slightest degree, the silver will be injured." Satisfied, the lady started to leave the shop but the silversmith said, "Oh, one more thing, ma'am. I know that the process of purifying is complete when I see my own image reflecting in the silver."

But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner's fire or a launderer's soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness. Malachi 3 : 2 -3.

Have you ever had someone say, "You look more and more like your mom as you get older," or "You sure look just like your dad"? As you grow and mature in your walk with Christ, it is exciting when people begin to tell you that you're "looking like Jesus." He is working, through the tough times and the good times of your life, to see His reflection in you. Pray that His image would become more and more clear, and seen, in you.
