Hast Thou Prayeth?

While walking along the sidewalk in front of his church, a minister heard the words of a prayer coming fro a clump of trees. Apparently, his 5 -year- old son and his playmates had found a dead robin. Feeling that a proper burial should be performed, they had gotten a small box and some cotton material, dug a hole and make ready for the graveside service. The minister's son was chosen by the boys to say the prayer. The boy did his best to imitate his father's best religious voice while booming: "Gloooory be unto the Faaaather, and unto the Sonnnn......and into the hole he gooooes."

Prayer is often a very misunderstood concept. We often think we have to say certain words, incertain ways, in certain places, even in a certain voice.

Jesus wasn't saying that we shouldn't pray in public. He was saying we should be careful to just simply pray our heart to our Father. He even gave us an example of a very simple prayer.

What is prayer to you? Is it a religious exercise or the expression of a relationship? Just simply speak out your heart to God. He will listen as you speak. Then take the time to listen while He speaks to your heart.

Taking A Loss (week 6)

A man located a beautiful home in the country for his family. The owner said he would sell the house except the rights to one rusty nail in the living room ceiling. It was a strange request, but the man agreed, understanding that he would provide access to the nail that remained the property of the old man. Not long after the family moved into their new home, the former owner showed up at the door requesting to use his nail. He came in, hung a dead rat on it, and left. The family was horrified and became even more so as time went by. pleading with the old man to remove it did no good. "An agreement is an agreement," he said, adding still another animal to his nail. Finally, the stench and flies became so bad the family moved out of the house and sold it back to the original owner at a huge loss.

As the leader of God's people, Saul was to be an example of obedience. Instead of obeying God in everything and destroying the spoils of war as God had instructed, Saul decided to keep some things for himself. Because his obedience was incomplete, God's plan to use him to lead Israel was short-circuited.

Even if God owns every area of your life except one, His plan for your life will also be short-circuited. Incomplete obedience is disobedience! Examine your life today. Have you given God ownership of every area? Is there a "nail on your ceiling" still available to Satan or to someone who isn't healthy for you?

Cross Training (week 5)

A young man training to be an Olympic diver had been raised as an atheist. The only spiritual influence in his life came from a strong Christian friend. The young diver never acted like he paid more attention to his friend's conversations about Jesus, though he heard them often.

One night the diver went to the indoor pool at the university he attended. The lights were off, but the moon shining brightly thorugh the skylights allowed enough light to practice. He climbed to the highest diving board and walked to the edge. Turning his back to the pool and extending his arms outward, he was moved when he saw the shadow of his body on the wall in the shape of cross - the cross his friend had shared about so many times where Christ made the sacrifice for him. Recalling his friend's words, he knelt right there on that diving board and gave his life to Christ.

After praying, he stood. Just then a maintenance man walked in and flipped on the lights. The pool had been drained for repairs! Had he ignored the Spirit of God again, he would have dove to his death. His response to God saved his spiritual and physical death. Oftentimes it's not just your soul that is saved.

Read Corinthians 1:18.

In God's always-perfect timing, the young diver realized his need for a Saviour, and God's power was shown in an awesome way. Are you sure of your own salvation?

Have you been talking to and praying for a non-Christian? Let this story and ths verse encourage you to continue. Be obedient and God will be faithful.

Evangelistic Boom - 25/4/09

Evangelistic Boom really boom us on 25 April 09, 51 youth attendance on that very day. Lets begin wth the preparation of this event. Honestly, this is a pretty last minute project. Things are half done & not been fully prepare - games, sharing , drama, decoration, poster, goodies & gifts. Especially for the friends invitation. On behalf of Grace Baptist, I would like to apologize to everyone who involve or invited of all the sudden planning and invitations. I knew there's many complain but I'm grateful that we did our part & leave the rest in God's hand. After the event, I can certain with my faith that GOD IS WITH US! Revival is in this church. Purpose of this project is mainly forcus on bringing the opportunity for people to know Christ. Not using force, not using work but to rely on your willingness & faith to believe in Christ - which is we Christian believe in. I Ivan knew a lot of friends on that day and truely seen Grace Baptist's youth is growing healthy in spiritually. I seen them being independently serving without any help. After EB, youth let's MOVE ON! & let's move foward. For this is just the beginning, there's more event to come & things yet to be done. To tell the truth from the deep my heart, I love the youth more than myself.
