Three Man & a Motive (week 16)

A man walked into a Burger King in Ypsilanti, Michigan, at 8.50a.m., pulled a gun and demanded cash. The clerk said he couldn't open the cash register without a food order. When the man ordered onion rings, the clerk said they weren't available until after breakfast. Frustrated, the man just walked away.

Another man walked into a 7/11 convenience store in Louisiana, put a $20 bill on the counter and asked a change. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled a gun and asked for all the cash in the register, which the clerk quickly handed over. The man took the cash from the clerk and ran, leaving his $20 bill on the counter. The total amount of cash he ran away with? Fifteen dollars.

Both of these man, although desperate enough to put themselves and others at great risk, came away with nothing, or a $5 loss!

Read about the similar man in Matthew 19 : 16 - 22.

The two men in the news stories walked away empty-handed.

Although the man who approached Jesus had wealth, he was spiritually bankrupt. Even after talking with the very One Who could give him all he desired, he walked away empty-handed and even more sad.

What about you? Do you feel like these men, constantly wantin your needs met but growing more frustrated with every attempt to meet them? Jesus is your Source. He can meet your needs. It may not be in the way you think, but it will be the best way for you.
