See No Evil (week 1)

A mom shares this story: " I was driving with my three young children one warm summer evening when a woman in a convertible ahead of us stood up waved. She was stark naked! As I was reeling from the shock, I heard my 5-year-old shout from the back seat, 'Mom! That lady isn't wearing a seat belt!' "

Here's another one:A little boy got lost at the YMCA and found himself in the women's locker room. When he was spotted, the room burst into screams, with the lady grabbing towels and running for cover. The little boy watched in amazement and then asked, "What's the matter? Haven't you ever seen a little boy before?"

Read and memorize Romans 16:19 (NIV)

Children have an amazing ability to look past certain situations because of their innocence. That innocence gradually leaves us as we learn, see, and hear more and more of the world and its ways. As Christians, we can maintain a level of innocence and purity through our relationship with Christ.

In this short verse, Paul is telling us to be experts in what is good and maintain an innocence, so we won't be experts in evil. Too often we will rationalize doing something like seeing a movie, listening to a song, or wearing a certain thing by saying that we just want to relate better to others, sometimes even with our church friends. This verse teaches that we never need to make room for filth to enter our lives. You can know about things of the world wihtout having to experience them. Remember that truth when the next time you are tempted!
