This Week Prayer

Oh God, the pressures of my busy life weigh upon me, and I confess that I have not taken the time to develop a deep familiarity and fellowship with You. I have not really opened my heart to You, nor have I taken the time to know by experience the openness of Your heart to me. Help me over these next several days to take the time to learn about true prayer from a man who was mastered by the Holy Spirit in prayer, who knew what it was to learn of You behind prison walls. Help me to pray in order to know you better. Help me to pray so I might be empowered to witness before those who need to accept the truth of the Gospel of Your precious Son,
for his sake I pray. Amen

True Prayer

God commands us to pray. He commands to pray in public and in private. Prayer brings those who have the spirit of supplication into a wonderful communion and fellowship with God; therefore, God has ordained prayer as a means for us to grow in a personal relationship with Him.

When we pray often and actively, our prayers acquire great things from God, both for those for whom we pray as well as for ourselves. Prayer opens our heart to God. Our prayers are the means by which our souls, though empty, are filled by God to overflowing. In our prayers, we Christians can open our hearts to God as to a friend, and obtain a fresh confirmation of His friendship with us.

I might spend many words in distinguishing between public and private prayer. I might also distinguish between prayer in the heart and prayer that is spoken aloud. Something also might be said regarding the differences between the gifts and the graces of prayer. But I have chosen to make it my business to show you only the very heart of prayer, without which all your lifting up, both of hands and eyes and voices, will be to no purpose at all.

We must learn and apply what the Scriptures teach. Paul wrote and gave us an example, "I will pray with Spirit." Therefore, I will tell you: first, what true prayer is; second, what it is to pray with the Holy Spirit; third, what it is to pray with the Spirit and with the mind; and fourth, what are some uses and applications of what I have explained about prayer,

Prayer is a sincere, sensible, affectionate
pouring out of the heart or soul to God, through
Christ, in the strength and assistance of the Holy
Spirit, for such things as God has promised,
or according to the Word of God, for the good of
the Church, with submission in faith to the will of God.

This definition includes seven things which I must discuss in detail in the following pages. First, your prayers must be sincere. Second, your prayers must be sensible. Third, your prayers must be an affectionate pouring out of your soul to God the Father through Jesus Christ. Fourth, if you want your prayers to be effective, you must pray by the strength and assistance of the Holy Spirit. Fifth, for your prayers to be answered according to the will of God, you must pray for such things as God has promised, or according to His Word, the Bible. Sixth, your prayers should not be selfish, but should keep in view the good of the Church as well as others. Seventh, you should always pray in faith and with submission to the will of God.

The Purpose Driven Church

I been reading the book of 'Purpose Driven Church' by the author Rick Warren and found that I should share this out. It's always confuse when we been asked "what is a church for, why do we need church?". Many get it wrong such as - 'a church is to take care of the family of Christ, for fellowship, for rebuilding those who down in spirit'. Unfortunately few will respond 'It is to win the world for Christ'. Is really sad thing while we always had the selfish thought of humanism, which I should said we often make the church ours!!instead of Christ's church which also says we are self-worshiper rather than a Christ worshiper. I'm not saying church is not for fellowship or rebuilding faith of Christians, but all of these are just part of Christ purpose for a church. However the primary purpose of a Church from Christ for us Christians is to 'win the lost souls and go and make disciples through all nations'!

We often make decisions based on our own opinion, desires, pleasure and forgot who is our master. There's no doubt of church leaders often get quarrels and controversy when come into meeting or discussion for church issues.

Without the knowing the purpose of church, every continuous Sunday service will be just meaningless that's why many churches in Malaysia seems not growing intensely.

Paul once said 'With the grace of God, I had laid a strong foundation as an expert builder'. Question cames through my mind, what makes Paul so confident in saying so?. The answer is simply because he knows clearly the church's vision and purpose. I believe with clearer vision, the greater will be the morale of the members in achieving it.

Applied it to our youth, do you really know what is our youth's vision in year 2010? or is it just about Youth's enjoyment to you? For those who not know, it is 'Building a Upward Relationship with God, Inward Relationship with the Church, and an Outward Relationship with the Community. I think this a good start of a warning to us before we get into ' Evangelistic Boom 2 ' in 2010. Is not just about the fun but it is an opportunity for your friends to believe and be saved in Christ.

Are you ready to make the name of Jesus known to your friends
? Are you ready to make a difference in your friend's life? Let's get it started and pray !

What Is True of Christ Is True of You

Comments added - It's something I suddenly pick and read, it gave me strength and comfort when I was feeling pretty depress. (Davey)

Victory Over The Darkness
by
Neil T. Anderson

What Is True Of Christ Is True of You

Since all of us are a saint in Christ by God's calling, you share in Christ's inheritance. That which is true of Christ is now true of you, because you are in Christ. It's part of your identity.

The list below itemizes in first-person language who you really are in Christ. These are some of the scriptural traits which reflect who you became at spiritual birth. You can't earn them or buy them anymore than a person born can't earn them or buy them anymore than a person born in America can earn or buy the rights and freedoms he enjoy as an American citizen. They are guaranteed to him by the Constitution simple because he was born in the United States. Similarly, these straits are guaranteed to you by the Word of God simply because you were born into God's holy nation by faith in Christ.

Who Am I?
I am the salt of the earth (Matt.5:13)
I am the light of the world (Matt. 5:14)
I am a child of God (John 1:12)
I am part of the true vine, a channel of Christ's life (John 15:15)
I am Christ's friend (John 15:15)
I am chosen and appointed by Christ to bear His fruit (John 15:16)
I am a slave of righteousness (Rom. 6:18)
I am enslaved to God (Rom 6:22)
I am a son of God; God is spiritually my Father(Rom 8:14,15; Gal 3:26; 4:6)
I am a joint heir with Christ, sharing His inheritance with Him (Rom 8:17)
I am a temple --a dwelling place-- of God. His Spirit and His life dwells in me (1 Cor. 12:27; Eph 5:30)
I am united to the Lord and am one spirit with Him (1 Cor. 6:17)
I am a member of Christ's Body (1 Cor. 12:27; Eph 5:30)
I am a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17)
I am reconciled to God and am a minister of reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18, 19)
I am a son of God and one in Christ (Gal. 3:26, 28)
I am an heir of God since I am a son of God (Gal. 4:6,7)
I am a saint (Eph. 1:1; 1 Cor. 1:2; Phil. 1:1; Col. 1:2)
I am God's workmanship -- His handiwork -- born anew in Christ to do His work (Eph. 2:10).
I am a fellow citizen with the rest of God's family (Eph. 2:19)
I am a prisoner of Christ (Eph. 3:1; 4:1)
I am righteous and holy (Eph. 4:24).
I am a citizen of heaven, seared in heaven right now (Phil. 3:20; Eph 2:6)
I am hidden with Christ in God (Col. 3:3)
I am an expression of the life of Christ because He is my life (Col. 3:4)
I am chosen of God, holy and dearly love (Col. 3:12; 1 Thess. 1:4)
I am a son of light and not of darkness ( 1 Thess. 5:5)
I am a holy partaker of a heavenly calling (Heb. 3:1)
I am a partaker of Christ; I share in His life (Heb. 3:14)
I am a one of God's living stones, being built up in Christ as a spiritual house (1 Pet 2:5)
I am a member of a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession (1 Peter. 2:9, 10)
I am an alien and stranger to this world in which I temporarily live (1 Pet. 2:11)
I am an enemy of the devil (1 Pet 5:8).
I am a child of God and I will resemble Christ when He returns (1 John 3:1,2)
I am born of God, and the evil one -- the devil-- cannot touch me (1 John 5:18)
I am not the great "I am" (Exod. 3:14; John 8:24,28,58), but by the grace, I am what I am
(1 Cor.15:10)

Because you are in Christ, every one of those characteristics is completely true of you, and there's nothing you can do to make them more true. But you can make these traits more meaningful and productive in your life by simply choosing to believe what God has said about you. One of the greatest ways to help yourself grow into maturity in Christ is to continually remind yourself who you are in Him. I suggest that you go back and read it aloud to yourself right now. read the list once or twice a day for a week or two. Read it when you think that Satan is trying to deceive you into believing you are a worthless failure. The more you reaffirm who you are in Christ, the more your behaviour will begin to reflect your true identity.

Secret Foundation (Part 2)

Learning to Pray
by K.P. Yohannan
(Gospel For Asia)

There are many people all throughout Christian history who knew the power of prayer. John Hyde was one of them. In the late 1800s. he left his home in Illinois to serve the Lord as a missionary to the people of India. There he labored, not just physically but, more important, in prayer. He was known to pray to stay up late into the night praying, as well as rising very early each morning, crying out to God, "Give me souls, O God, or I die!" He was so gripped with passion for the lost, and he knew that the strongholds the enemy had upon the people could only be broken through prayer. And so pray he did.

In fact, he prayed so much that the position of his heart had shifted in his chest, later causing the complications that led to his death. But because of his prayers, in 1904 the northwestern states of India where he had labored for years experienced one of the greatest revivals the nation has ever known!

Just like Praying Hyde, we too can learn to pray and see God accomplish great things through our prayers. But we must learn. You could read every book ever written on prayer, but that won't make you a person of prayer. We learn to pray by doing it.

In The Last Days Newsletter, Leonard Ravenhill tells about a group of tourists who were visiting a picturesque village. As they walked by an old man sitting beside a fence, one tourist, in a rather patronizing way, turned to the old man and asked, "Were any great men born in this village?" The old man simply turned and replied, "Nope, only babies."

My brothers and sisters, we must grow into the life of prayer. Let us begin TODAY, taking the first steps toward becoming people great in prayer. As we do, we will see incredible things happen in our lifetime.

"The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results" (James 5:16) NLT.

I know firsthand just how effective the prayers of those who trust the Lord and continue in prayer are. For three and one-half years my mother fasted and prayed for the Lord to call one of her six sons into full-time ministry. One after the other, each of my brothers started their careers, with only me, the youngest and shyest, left as my mother's last hope.

But when I was 16, the Lord answered my mother's prayers and called me to the ministry. The call on my life is a direct result of her prayers.

As John Wesley once said, "God will do nothing but answer in prayer."

I believe John Wesley first learned the importance of prayer and how to pray through the example he saw in his mother, Susanna Wesley. This woman of God and mother of 19 children was known for her devoted prayer life. In the midst of her busy household and numerous duties, she consistently made time to prayer by pulling her apron over her head to find solitude with God. It was out of her prayers that two of her sons -- John and Charles Wesley -- became key leaders in the Church in the 1700s.

"Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know" (Jeremiah 33:3). Let us receive His invitation and begin to walk this road of learning to pray.

A Secret Foundation (Part 1)

Learning to Pray
by
K.P.Yohannan
(Gospel For Asia)

A few years ago, I heard the story of one missionary serving with our organization who, in a short time, had planted five churches in a difficult part of Northeast India. Curios of how this young brother did it, I called one of our senior leaders and asked him if he could tell me more about this brother's ministry.

All that I knew was that he was from a tribal background and didn't have any college education, yet regardless, it seemed that God was with him in a remarkable way. The first church he planted began with the healing of a Hindu priest who was paralyzed. Then, one after another, four more churches were born. I was more th
Our senior leader said he would check into it and let me know what he found out. When he called to tell me, he said, "There is nothing unusual about him. I found nothing special except for one thing --- he gets up very early each morning and spends two or three hours in prayer and then an hour or two reading the Bible. This habit began while he was studying in one of our Bible colleges."

Let me give another example. One morning I was talking to a senior leader in our work on the mission field. He was traveling throughout North India to meet with many of our leaders and appoint new workers to projects that had recently been started. In our conversation we were discussing who might be able to take a certain new position. I asked him, "What do you think about this particular brother? He seems to be a really godly man. Why don't we think about putting him in that position?"

We talked back and forth about this brother's abilities, his lack of experience and the seriousness of the challenge in this new area of work. But finally we both agreed to trust him with the particular job. There was something about him that caused us to make that decision: He spends nearly four hours in prayer each day.

Our decision was not based on the fact that he had started a dozen churches or that he was able to oversee a large region of the country quite well. Our decision was based on the fact that God was with him and that he knew how to pray.

You see, prayer is God's Method of carrying out His purposes upon this earth. There is a mystery to the truth that God waits to hear and answer the prayers of his people. Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 9:37-38? " The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest" (emphasis added).

Just a few things....

Hey y'all, how you guys doing? Hope all of you are in a good shape for the new year. I know everyone have started the new year stress and probably everyone have their new positions or new duties to do for new year. So I pray for strength and the Lord's guidance to all of you

I just want to say a few things right here, before I carried out my duty as the president of EverReady Youth Training Union. As matter of fact, to say the truth I'm not really ready for it. Being as the president have such BIG responsibility that I doubt I can bare with it.
As you all know, I'm not really good in mixing with you guys and it's hard for me to express myself truly. Recently, I found out with 2 of my friends from FGA Cheras, they had share something to me that I felt there's a need of change in me. They said as being a youth leader, doesn't mean you have to be so serious all the time, you could have fun and enjoy your life, you wouldn't want others to think you're weird and serious, or maybe if non-Christians would come to your youth and saw that your youth is plain old boring, how would you think of that, when my friend said that to me.

Now I really know why I can't really mix with you guys, because some how I am growing so fast in my spirituality (not to say I'm better than you all), I began to forget how to go smooth and easy and the way to have fun as a youth. Last year, when I was in Northen Thailand during the mission trip, Sister Helen once said to me:" David, you just got to have fun in your teenage life don't waste it!" But I said to her:" My way of enjoying my life is to serve God everyday."
For now I can really understand why Sis. Helen said that to me. I am too matured like a boring old man who doesn't know to have fun among the youngsters like me. To say it generally, I am a very introvert person, I love to keep things to myself, I always spent time alone with God, because most of time I walked to home alone, and while walking God is only my companion, so I kept a lot of things inside of me.
To say it personally, after what my two friends had said to me. I am trying all my best to be more extrovert and try to hang out with you guys more. For serving God is not strength alone and we will serve God together as one body of Christ and to have fun as well.

God spoke to me in Colossians 3, the verses that we read during last saturday. It really sank deep in my heart, that I want to share with you guys and I hope Colossians 3 would be an encouragement and a guidance for all of you.

Well guys, I'm really sorry for what I am for the pass year, and I hope I can really ask God how to be more sociable and friendly with you guys.

I hope too I can be an encouragement and blessing to all of you.

Anyway, I got to go, it's kinda late and this is what I want to share before I really carried out to be the youth president! =)

God Bless!

Memory Verse

Keep on loving each other as brothers.

Hebrews 13 : 1

Got Any Change?

A nine-year old girl was discovered in the Chinese province of Liaoning living with barnyard pigs. Was this a unpopular story? No. United Press International released the story all over the world. Because her disabled parents could not care of her, she had been raised from infancy by the family's pigs, even eating from the mother pig just like the piglets. The report said the child had to be taught to stop the pig-like behavior and learn to act like a human. Her counselors said she had learned to crawl on all fours and to imitate pig sounds for communicating.

It is sad to hear a child having the behaviour of a pig. But even sadder is a Christian who has the behavior of a non-Christian. A person who has accepted Christ has agreed with God to live life His way. An inner change will always begin to show outwardly.

Hebrews 13 : 1-3 said "Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering."

Should Christians be any different in our attitude and outlook? Relationships are still the primary thing God uses to bring people to Himself and to care for others' needs. You probably came to know Christ because of a friend or a family member - a relationship. If you enjoy going to church, it's likely because you have strong relationships there. Always remember that the way to have friends is to first be a friend. Thank God for your relationships today, and look for the opportunities he gives to make new ones - for Him.

Ivan : Don't be Porky, but be Humans..Be a Christian with Christian behavior =)
