Sink or Swim? (week 11)

In 1952 Florence Chadwick stepped into the water off an island near the Pacific coast. She was going to be the first woman in history to swim the 27 miles from Catalina Island to the mainland United States. Fog rolled in that day as she plunged into the icy water. A team of family and friends followed in boats to watch sharks and cheer her on.

Florence swam for hours, but with only a half a mile remaining she told her team that she had to quit and get in the boat. Her family desperately tried to encourage her. Florence said she couldn't make another stroke. After she was pulled into the boat, she saw the beach and realized just how close she had been to her goal when she gave up. With much regret, she said, "If I could only have seen the land, I think I could made it."

Have you ever felt like giving up? Read Luke 5 : 1 - 11.

Can you identify with Florence Chadwick? You may feel that many of your own goals and dreams are out of reach - goals in school, job, friendships, future plans, and even in your relationship and service to God. Don't give up; your goal may be closer than you think! Ask God to renew your vision and confidence today and give you the courage to keep on.

To the youth : Let's move on and never give up on serving the Lord every Saturday, Ivan =)
